18/11/2008 - YACHT MANAGEMENT

Kategori: LUXURY YACHT

Yacht managementBeing a yacht owner should be an enjoyable and privileged pleasure. However owning a yacht automatically generates another property to manage. A property that is usually situated far from the owner’s principal residence, that might require qualified personnel , specialized knowledge, and by its very nature, attentive and permanent maintenance and supervision. The role of InT-Marine, in its position as yacht manager, is to represent the yacht owner by assuming the task of maximising the longevity of the yacht, and in so doing minimising the preoccupation and lost time that the owner would incur to achieve the same goal.In its position as an intermediary, InT-Marine is always available and in a position to advise and act upon any decisions taken by the owner on the care and management of his yacht.InT-Marine offers a tailor-made service, adapted to an owner’s needs and the size of his yacht, covering the organization of the owner’s time on board, finding if necessary an appropriately qualified crew member, representing the owner in his absence in front of the crew, defining work and maintenance programs or repairs as well as their costs and the supervision of their execution.Within the limits defined between the owner and InT-Marine, we may also organize the purchase of necessary equipment and arrange diverse payments.InT-Marine acting as the owner’s “right arm” for the management of his yacht, always acts strictly according to the owner’s instructions, providing peace of mind and an economy of time.Cost of serviceInT-Marine charges a fixed monthly rate paid in advance, which is negotiated with an owner in relation to the services required, the size of yacht, and the number of crew. In its role as yacht manager InT-Marine does not accept commissions on any purchases, work carried out, or on any costs incurred for the yacht, and consequently the owner will directly profit from any discount/ commission that may be offered.InT-Marine does not charge for supplementary hours performed in the pursuit of its mission. Within a limit defined with the owner, the travelling costs necessary to assure the management of the yacht in accordance with the agreed management service are included in the monthly fee. In the event that a manager is required to travel further than the agreed limit, this travel cost and, if applicable, accommodation/ subsistence will be charged to the owner.PrecisionsInT-Marine’s manager is in regular contact with the yacht’s captain and crew. The yacht manager will liaise with the owner and captain to define what projects should be undertaken, upgrades or repairs, be they technical or aesthetic, and will endeavour to obtain the best quotations regarding quality/price, and once confirmed will survey the execution of the work and the adherence to the time allocated either on board or at the shipyard.InT-Marine will survey the accounts of the yacht if required, and will transmit regular reports, on the basis agreed with the yacht owner.InT-Marine will verify, in conjunction with the captain, all invoices before payment is effected. InT-Marine in its advisory role will assure that the owner’s yacht remains totally operational in accordance with the owner’s requirements and the various maritime regulations. If required, InT-Marine will consult with agencies specialized in crew recruitment, in order to find seasonal or permanent crew members, analyse their C.V’s, and conduct preliminary interviews.InT-Marine, utilizing its network of reputable companies, can negotiate the best and most cost effective insurance cover for a yacht or medical cover for the yacht’s crew. Whenever necessary InT-Marine will assist the captain in the general running of the yacht whilst the owner, or be it the case, the charterer, is on board, finding an appropriate mooring, advice concerning provisioning, technical assistance, or help with the reservation of a suitable restaurant, limousine, helicopter, etc ...netten

Luxury Villa

Cambodia's Angkor temples have been designated a Unesco World Heritage Site: the remains of ancient Hindu and Buddhist temples, which were 'lost' for hundreds of years, are unrivalled in their grand design and intricate bas-reliefs and rank among the world's top destinations.

Currency: £1 = 7,779 riels (US$ widely accepted and recommended to use), Language: Khmer (French and English also spoken)

There were plenty of reasons to be unimpressed with my first sight of Angkor Wat. We'd arrived in a torrential downpour, I was being squashed by Japanese tourists and I was suffering from dysentery. But nothing can describe how humbling it is to confront Cambodia's famous, 12th-century temple-mountain - the largest religious complex ever built. Angkor Wat is a masterpiece: covered in exceptional carvings and bas-reliefs, it was a labour of love devoted to the Hindu god Vishnu and intended to honour the god-king of a Khmer empire at the height of its glory. The glowering clouds only added to its majesty.

Cambodia is determined to move on from the ravages of its recent history and having one of the world's modern wonders isn't doing it any harm. Siem Reap, the nearest town to the Angkor site, is expanding rapidly. Huge new hotel complexes - mostly monstrous constructions more suited to Vegas - are hastily going up. The town bustles with life: morning rush hour is a cacophony of bicycles and motorbikes, tuk-tuks and tourist buses. The old market heaves with stalls selling everything from basic groceries to 'Cambodia - Danger landmine!' T-shirts. Pub Street and its environs is a bewildering swirl of neon advertising, restaurants and 'massage plus plus' parlours (an unsettling reminder of what some tourists come for).

Even those looking for luxury are catered for. The landmark H™tel De La Paix, for instance, has been transformed into a five-star, Art Deco-meets-Khmer, boutique establishment. Or you can stay in one of four simple, £5 to £8-a-night rooms at the Paul Dubrule Hotel And Tourism School, where the proficient students are eager to practise their hospitality training.

Architectural splendour

Angkor doesn't encourage much lounging around in hotels, though. There are dozens of other temple ruins to visit. The Angkorian era spanned seven centuries and each successive king commissioned his own cities and temples. The most prolific builder was Jayavarman VII, who swapped Hinduism for Buddhism. At the centre of his walled capital, Angkor Thom, is Bayon Temple, where each of the 37 standing towers has four giant carved heads, all sporting a slightly eerie half-smile. Ta Prohm, meanwhile, is a temple famous for its disintegration: the jungle's trees have taken firm hold of the walls of this once hugely wealthy Buddhist monastery.

Different again is the jewel-like, tenth-century Banteay Srey: a tiny temple built from pink sandstone and so intricately carved, it looks in places like lace. Driving back to Siem Reap, you get a true taste of the country: beautifully turned-out schoolchildren cycling home for lunch; quiet villages of wooden homes on stilts; roadside stalls of bananas and palm sugar sweets; water buffalo lazily surveying the rice paddies. For a moment, the relentless tourist crush of Angkor is a memory and you think that anything is worth enduring to see this magical place.

Tonlé Sap

Not far from the man-made wonders of Angkor is Cambodia's natural wonder, the great lake Tonlé Sap. Visitors can take boat trips, lasting anywhere from a few hours to a few days, on South East Asia's largest freshwater lake, whose seasonal variations allow it to host a rich ecosystem of plants, fish, animals and rare wild birdlife.

Each June, the monsoon waters from the Mekong reverse the flow of TonlŽ Sap river, pouring millions of cubic metres of flood water into the lake. In October, the flow reverses again.

The oddest observable result is the 'inundated forest' - trees that can cope with being completely or partially submerged for months at a time. The 'floating villages' that have grown up along the edges of the lake provide a spectacular sight: grocery stores, barbers, petrol stations, schools, health centres, churches and pagodas can all be found among the ramshackle homes.

Luxury Otel

Rome, once the largest city in the world and the physical / spiritual birthplace of Christianity, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the European Union. Located on the Tiber River and home to 2.7 million people, Rome serves as the capital of Italy and is now a modern, cosmopolitan city with majestic squares and unparalleled cultural, historical attractions.

Roman attractions include: The Pantheon, the best preserved Roman structure and considered by Michelangelo to be the “work of angels, not men”; the Roman Forum, once the heart of the Roman Empire and the center for commerce, politics, and social life; and the Colloseum which accommodated up to 50,000 spectators for sporting events and gladiator fights.

Within the city of Rome, visitors will discover Vatican City, a walled city-state established in 1929 by the Roman Catholic Church. The Vatican is home to the Pope and holds the splendor of St. Peters Basilica, St. Peter Square, the Sistine Chapel, exquisite Baroque and Renaissance architecture, and priceless works of art by the likes of Michelangelo.

Visitors will also be delighted to find friendly people, great cafes, fine restaurants, exciting night life, sophisticated shopping, and thrilling, high speed taxi rides. Rome, the city of love and “La Dolce Vita” has a vast array of hotels from which to choose. We prefer hotels that are in the central city so you can walk to most attractions and take a bus or the metro to others. We are also sticklers for cleanliness and beds that don’t sag!

Here’s our list of favorite hotels at every level in Rome

Luxury

Hassler

Set at the top of the Spanish Steps and having spectacular views of Rome sets this Luxury hotel apart from the rest. The Hassler was voted the number one hotel in Rome among Travel+Leisure’s list of 500 best luxury hotels in the world. We read that Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes stayed here last year.

4-Star

Sofitel Roma

We love Sofitel Hotels and this one was named Best Luxury Hotel in Rome 2008, by readers of TripAdvisor. It is located near the Spanish Steps (In our opinion, the best hotel location in Rome) Designed in Roman Neoclassical style, this Rome four-star hotel offers 113 rooms and four suites with private terraces.

Capo D’Africa

This hotel is located near the Colloseum and the Roman Forum, but away from the other important Rome attractions. (Easily accessed by Metro or busses)The rooms are generous size and the decor is Italian modern.

Three Star

Hotel Artorious

Located between the Colloseum  and the Trevi Fountain, this hotel is in the middle of Ancient Roma. This three-star hotel offers excellent service and great value.

Caesar House Residenze Romane

This little hotel is located near the Colloseum and offers lots of amenities including a concierge. But, there is no Air conditioning, so reserve this hotel for the cooler months.

Hotel Albani
Located in a quiet residential area near the Vila Borgese, this hotel is sure to please. Free WiFi in the lobby and air conditioned rooms give this hotel the edge.
